Marijuana -VS- Alcohol

Quoted

Deakon_Wolf Of Gladiatus.us
~Just some facts~

So lets discuss the negative effects of this illegal "drug" called
Marijuana and let's simply compare it to a more legal "drug" called
alcohol.

Marijuana smoking has been linked to short and long term memory loss,
that's not good. It's also been proven to contain more chemicals than
cigarettes, because cigarettes are filtered! So when you smoke one
joint, it's supposedly the equivalent of like five cigarettes which is
obviously not great for you admittedly, but now let's compare this
"evil, illegal narcotic" to a drug made legal by our government.

That's right, alcohol IS legal. Let's examine it's negative effects
though. First of all, alcohol is a leading cause of heart disease,
liver deterioration, blood thinning... and let's not forget, drinking
ALSO causes memory loss, both long and short term.

Unfortunately, the other effects go downhill from there! Violence is a
common reaction to alcohol consumption. It has led to "blackouts", or
complete lapses of memory, in which the drinker had committed an act he
or she had no recollection of. Alcohol has led to murder, physical and
sexual abuse... and rape. To add to this already long and hopefully
convincing list of reasons, let me add that it is not uncommon to watch
marriages fall apart due to alcoholism, not to mention the loss of a
loved one due to drunk drivers. All in all, alcohol proves to be the
most dangerous of the two, and it's legal.

So, are we really making the wrong choice by smoking a joint every now
and then? It has come to my attention that the government seldomly even
knows what's going on, never mind having the power to decide what is
right or wrong for us.

What are your thoughts on it?
so what are your thoughts

I could argue that cars should be outlawed and tractors brought in to replace all the cars. Yet I don't see my senator calling a bill in to start a Tractors for Cars program.

Cars: Cause of a major part of Deaths per year, guzzle untold amounts of gas
Tractors: Can plow land for crops, can slowly drive (Meaning fewer accidents, it's a bit harder to jump out of the way of a runaway truck than to jump out of the path of a rouge tractor barreling at you at menacing 4 MPH)

I'm generally against legalization of drugs, just because I associate people like this with drugs. If my experience reading FP is anything to say, drug users (with connection to the internet, at least) are pretty smart. Too bad that's a bit biased.
(Can I link to FacePunch, or is it too 'mature'?)

(I thought we had a topic like this a while ago?)

One issue uncommonly mentioned about Marijuana is that while people claim that Heroin and Anthetamine is the most lethal drugs, Marijuana has one abillity which the others haven´t. Marijuana stores itself in the body fat of the smoker, meaning unlike Heroin and Amphetamine where the user gets affected only during the process of usage and then for perhaps a few days forward. Marijuana is way worse as the particles stored in the body fat can cause symtoms reminding of a person taking an overdose when the particles leaves the body fat and enters the bloodstream.

Putting it this way: Heroin and Amphetamine is classified as heavier drugs then Marijuana, still Heroin and Amphetamine only causes reactions of anger, violence and so on during the usage of the drug. Marijuana can give effects weeks or even months after usage, which means that even a person who might have been clean of drugs for say 2 months (if being a user of Marijuana) can still be a lethal risk in public if there is still particles left, stored in the body fat set to enter the bloodstream.

In the UK the cops call Marijuana for the day after drug, which just shows just how dangerous Marijuana as a drug is.

In all of Scandinavia for example the punishments for import of Marijuana is higher than import of Heroin and Amphetamine.

Both are rubbish and unnecessary, but if alcohol is legal, then marijuana should be. Domestic abuse ocurrs a lot when somebody is abusing acohol, but i've never heard of anyone committing a serious criminal act while high on weed.

The reason crime is associated with marijuana is because of its criminalized nature, naturally attracting criminals to deal in it, who tend to deal in all the other bad stuff too. Careful decriminalization would a lot of people happy, as well as stupid. ;)

no known major disease caused by Marijuana... but there are many
diseases Marijuana is known to help like ADHA MS Autism, nausea,
vomiting, insomnia, chronic pain, appetite loss, glaucoma, muscle
spasticity from spinal cord injuries and multiple sclerosis, migraine
headaches, depression, seizures, cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis,
schizophrenia, bi-polar disorders, sleeping disorders, Crohn's disease
and a whole lot more... all the time they are finding new uses for it...

there are some doom Sayers who say pot leads to worst drugs like meth
coke and more.... but the fact is i have never tired another type and i
have been smoking for years

Well then you haven´t seen what I´ve seen! Here in Sweden we have had quite a few incidents over the years where killings has been made due to overdoses of drugs and especially Marijuana as it´s the easiest drug to smuggle in across the border.

Actually it´s quite fun to compare alcohol and drugs, especially as people consuming alcohol in too high volumes also in many cases swap the alcohol for heavier drugs.

It should also be mentioned that alcohol comes in many forms, some including way smaller amounts of alcohol. Light beer doesn´t cause any body damage, due to its low alcohol volume. However drugs doesn´t come in different volumes, you always gets the strongest substance (or in Marijuana´s case leafs), whether you want to or not.

Although you´re right that Marijuana has prroven to help some of the symptoms or deceases you describe, there are meds which can do that job way better, that doesn´t IMO justifies the usage of Marijuana.

Also there are many negative effects of Marijuana which you don´t mention:

Brain damage, nerve spasms, muscle pain, reduced blood-values etc...

Also some of the symptoms like sleeping disorders, schizophrenia, migraine and headache aren´t helped from the use of Marijuana, you actually get worse. The only reason you define the symptoms weaker than before is becuase Marijuana like any other drug, lures your nerve cortex, decreasing the pain mentally, but physicly they remain the same or like in most cases the symptoms become worse.

THE REAL REASON CANNABIS HAS BEEN OUTLAWED HAS NOTHING

TO DO WITH ITS EFFECTS ON THE MIND AND BODY.

by Doug Yurchey

MARIJUANA is DANGEROUS. Pot is NOT harmful to the human body or mind.
Marijuana does NOT pose a threat to the general public. Marijuana is
very much a danger to the oil companies, alcohol, tobacco industries
and a large number of chemical corporations. Various big businesses,
with plenty of dollars and influence, have suppressed the truth from
the people.

The truth is if marijuana was utilized for its vast array of commercial
products, it would create an industrial atomic bomb! Entrepreneurs have
not been educated on the product potential of pot. The super rich have
conspired to spread misinformation about an extremely versatile plant
that, if used properly, would ruin their companies.

Where did the word 'marijuana' come from? In the mid 1930s, the M-word
was created to tarnish the good image and phenomenal history of the
hemp plant...as you will read. The facts cited here, with references,
are generally verifiable in the Encyclopedia Britannica which was
printed on hemp paper for 150 years:

* All schoolbooks were made from hemp or flax paper until the 1880s; Hemp Paper Reconsidered, Jack Frazier, 1974.

* It was LEGAL TO PAY TAXES WITH HEMP in America from 1631 until the early 1800s; LA Times, Aug. 12, 1981.

* REFUSING TO GROW HEMP in America during the 17th and 18th Centuries
WAS AGAINST THE LAW! You could be jailed in Virginia for refusing to
grow hemp from 1763 to 1769; Hemp in Colonial Virginia, G. M. Herdon.

"I grew Hemp", George Washington

* George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other founding fathers GREW
HEMP; Washington and Jefferson Diaries. Jefferson smuggled hemp seeds
from China to France then to America.

* Benjamin Franklin owned one of the first paper mills in America and
it processed hemp. Also, the War of 1812 was fought over hemp. Napoleon
wanted to cut off Moscow's export to England; Emperor Wears No Clothes,
Jack Herer.

* For thousands of years, 90% of all ships' sails and rope were made
from hemp. The word 'canvas' is Dutch for cannabis; Webster's New World
Dictionary.

* 80% of all textiles, fabrics, clothes, linen, drapes, bed sheets,
etc. were made from hemp until the 1820s with the introduction of the
cotton gin.

* The first Bibles, maps, charts, Betsy Ross's flag, the first drafts
of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were made from
hemp; U.S. Government Archives.

* The first crop grown in many states was hemp. 1850 was a peak year
for Kentucky producing 40,000 tons. Hemp was the largest cash crop
until the 20th Century; State Archives.

* Oldest known records of hemp farming go back 5000 years in China,
although hemp industrialization probably goes back to ancient Egypt.

* Rembrants, Gainsboroughs, Van Goghs as well as most early canvas paintings were principally painted on hemp linen.

* In 1916, the U.S. Government predicted that by the 1940s all paper
would come from hemp and that no more trees need to be cut down.
Government studies report that 1 acre of hemp equals 4.1 acres of
trees. Plans were in the works to implement such programs; Department
of Agriculture

* Quality paints and varnishes were made from hemp seed oil until 1937.
58,000 tons of hemp seeds were used in America for paint products in
1935; Sherman Williams Paint Co. testimony before Congress against the
1937 Marijuana Tax Act.

* Henry Ford's first Model-T was built to run on hemp gasoline and the
CAR ITSELF WAS CONTRUCTED FROM HEMP! On his large estate, Ford was
photographed among his hemp fields. The car, 'grown from the soil,' had
hemp plastic panels whose impact strength was 10 times stronger than
steel; Popular Mechanics, 1941.

* Hemp called 'Billion Dollar Crop.' It was the first time a cash crop
had a business potential to exceed a billion dollars; Popular
Mechanics, Feb., 1938.

* Mechanical Engineering Magazine (Feb. 1938 published an article
entitled 'The Most Profitable and Desirable Crop that Can be Grown.' It
stated that if hemp was cultivated using 20th Century technology, it
would be the single largest agricultural crop in the U.S. and the rest
of the world.

The following information comes directly from the United States
Department of Agriculture's 1942 14-minute film encouraging and
instructing 'patriotic American farmers' to grow 350,000 acres of hemp
each year for the war effort:

(When) Grecian temples were new, hemp was already old in the service of
mankind. For thousands of years, even then, this plant had been grown
for cordage and cloth in China and elsewhere in the East. For centuries
prior to about 1850, all the ships that sailed the western seas were
rigged with hempen rope and sails. For the sailor, no less than the
hangman, hemp was indispensable...

...Now with Philippine and East Indian sources of hemp in the hands of
the Japanese...American hemp must meet the needs of our Army and Navy
as well as of our industries...

...the Navy's rapidly dwindling reserves. When that is gone, American
hemp will go on duty again; hemp for mooring ships; hemp for tow lines;
hemp for tackle and gear; hemp for countless naval uses both on ship
and shore. Just as in the days when Old Ironsides sailed the seas
victorious with her hempen shrouds and hempen sails. Hemp for victory!'

Certified proof from the Library of Congress; found by the research of
Jack Herer, refuting claims of other government agencies that the 1942
USDA film 'Hemp for Victory' did not exist.

Hemp cultivation and production do not harm the environment. The USDA
Bulletin #404 concluded that Hemphemp produces 4 times as much pulp
with at least 4 to 7 times less pollution. From Popular Mechanics, Feb.
1938:

'It has a short growing season...It can be grown in any state...The
long roots penetrate and break the soil to leave it in perfect
condition for the next year's crop. The dense shock of leaves, 8 to 12
feet above the ground, chokes out weeds.

...hemp, this new crop can add immeasurably to American agriculture and industry.'

In the 1930s, innovations in farm machinery would have caused an
industrial revolution when applied to hemp. This single resource could
have created millions of new jobs generating thousands of quality
products. Hemp, if not made illegal, would have brought America out of
the Great Depression.

William Randolph Hearst (Citizen Kane) and the Hearst Paper
Manufacturing Division of Kimberly Clark owned vast acreage of
timberlands. The Hearst Company supplied most paper products. Patty
Hearst's grandfather, a destroyer of nature for his own personal
profit, stood to lose billions because of hemp.

In 1937, Dupont patented the processes to make plastics from oil and
coal. Dupont's Annual Report urged stockholders to invest in its new
petrochemical division. Synthetics such as plastics, cellophane,
celluloid, methanol, nylon, rayon, Dacron, etc., could now be made from
oil. Natural hemp industrialization would have ruined over 80% of
Dupont's business.

THE CONSPIRACY

Andrew Mellon became Hoover's Secretary of the Treasury and Dupont's
primary investor. He appointed his future nephew-in-law, Harry J.
Anslinger, to head the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Secret meetings were held by these financial tycoons. Hemp was declared
dangerous and a threat to their billion dollar enterprises. For their
dynasties to remain intact, hemp had to go. These men took an obscure
Mexican slang word: 'marihuana' and pushed it into the consciousness of
America.

MEDIA MANIPULATION

A media blitz of 'yellow journalism' raged in the late 1920s and 1930s.
Hearst's newspapers ran stories emphasizing the horrors of marihuana.
The menace of marihuana made headlines. Readers learned that it was
responsible for everything from car accidents to loose morality.

Films like 'Reefer Madness' (1936), 'Marihuana: Assassin of Youth'
(1935) and 'Marihuana: The Devil's Weed' (1936) were propaganda
designed by these industrialists to create an enemy. Their purpose was
to gain public support so that anti-marihuana laws could be passed.

Examine the following quotes from 'The Burning Question' aka REEFER MADNESS:

* a violent narcotic.

* acts of shocking violence.

* incurable insanity.

* soul-destroying effects.

* under the influence of the drug he killed his entire family with an ax.

* more vicious, more deadly even than these soul-destroying drugs (heroin, cocaine) is the menace of marihuana!

Reefer Madness did not end with the usual 'the end.' The film concluded
with these words plastered on the screen: TELL YOUR CHILDREN.

In the 1930s, people were very naive; even to the point of ignorance.
The masses were like sheep waiting to be led by the few in power. They
did not challenge authority. If the news was in print or on the radio,
they believed it had to be true. They told their children and their
children grew up to be the parents of the baby-boomers.

On April 14, 1937, the Prohibitive Marihuana Tax Law or the bill that
outlawed hemp was directly brought to the House Ways and Means
Committee. This committee is the only one that can introduce a bill to
the House floor without it being debated by other committees. The
Chairman of the Ways and Means, Robert Doughton, was a Dupont
supporter. He insured that the bill would pass Congress.

Dr. James Woodward, a physician and attorney, testified too late on
behalf of the American Medical Association. He told the committee that
the reason the AMA had not denounced the Marihuana Tax Law sooner was
that the Association had just discovered that marihuana was hemp.

Few people, at the time, realized that the deadly menace they had been
reading about on Hearst's front pages was in fact passive hemp. The AMA
understood cannabis to be a MEDICINE found in numerous healing products
sold over the last hundred years.

In September of 1937, hemp became illegal. The most useful crop known
became a drug and our planet has been suffering ever since.

Congress banned hemp because it was said to be the most
violence-causing drug known. Anslinger, head of the Drug Commission for
31 years, promoted the idea that marihuana made users act extremely
violent. In the 1950s, under the Communist threat of McCarthyism,
Anslinger now said the exact opposite. Marijuana will pacify you so
much that soldiers would not want to fight.

Today, our planet is in desperate trouble. Earth is suffocating as
large tracts of rain forests disappear. Pollution, poisons and
chemicals are killing people. These great problems could be reversed if
we industrialized hemp. Natural biomass could provide all of the
planet's energy needs that are currently supplied by fossil fuels. We
have consumed 80% of our oil and gas reserves. We need a renewable
resource. Hemp could be the solution to soaring gas prices.

Hemp

THE WONDER PLANT

Hemp has a higher quality fiber than wood fiber. Far fewer caustic
chemicals are required to make paper from hemp than from trees. Hemp
paper does not turn yellow and is very durable. The plant grows quickly
to maturity in a season where trees take a lifetime.

ALL PLASTIC PRODUCTS SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEMP SEED OIL. Hempen plastics
are biodegradable! Over time, they would break down and not harm the
environment. Oil-based plastics, the ones we are very familiar with,
help ruin nature; they do not break down and will do great harm in the
future. The process to produce the vast array of natural (hempen)
plastics will not ruin the rivers as Dupont and other petrochemical
companies have done. Ecology does not fit in with the plans of the Oil
Industry and the political machine. Hemp products are safe and natural.

MEDICINES SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEMP. We should go back to the days when
the AMA supported cannabis cures. 'Medical Marijuana' is given out
legally to only a handful of people while the rest of us are forced
into a system that relies on chemicals. Pot is only healthy for the
human body.

WORLD HUNGER COULD END. A large variety of food products can be
generated from hemp. The seeds contain one of the highest sources of
protein in nature. ALSO: They have two essential fatty acids that clean
your body of cholesterol. These essential fatty acids are not found
anywhere else in nature! Consuming pot seeds is the best thing you
could do for your body. Eat uncooked hemp seeds.

CLOTHES SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEMP. Hemp clothing is extremely strong and
durable over time. You could hand clothing, made from pot, down to your
grandchildren. Today, there are American companies that make hemp
clothing; usually 50% hemp. Hemp fabrics should be everywhere. Instead,
they are almost underground. Superior hemp products are not allowed to
advertise on fascist television. Kentucky, once the top hemp producing
state, made it ILLEGAL TO WEAR hemp clothing! Can you imagine being
thrown into jail for wearing quality jeans?

The world is crazy...but that does not mean you have to join the
insanity. Get together. Spread the news. Tell people, and that includes
your children, the truth. Use hemp products. Eliminate the word
'marijuana.' Realize the history that created it. Make it politically
incorrect to say or print the M-word. Fight against the propaganda
(designed to favor the agenda of the super rich) and the bullchips.
Hemp must be utilized in the future. We need a clean energy source to
save our planet. INDUSTRIALIZE HEMP!

The liquor, tobacco and oil companies fund more than a million dollars
a day to Partnership for a Drug-Free America and other similar
agencies. We have all seen their commercials. Now, their motto is:
‘It's more dangerous than we thought.’ Lies from the powerful
corporations, that began with Hearst, are still alive and well today.

The brainwashing continues. Now, the commercials say: If you buy a
joint, you contribute to murders and gang wars. The latest anti-pot
commercials say: If you buy a joint...you are promoting TERRORISM! The
new enemy (terrorism) has paved the road to brainwash you any way THEY
see fit.

There is only one enemy; the friendly people you pay your taxes to; the
war-makers and nature destroyers. With your funding, they are killing
the world right in front of your eyes. HALF A MILLION DEATHS EACH YEAR
ARE CAUSED BY TOBACCO. HALF A MILLION DEATHS EACH YEAR ARE CAUSED BY
ALCOHOL. NO ONE HAS EVER, EVER DIED FROM SMOKING POT!! In the entire
history of the human race, not one death can be attributed to cannabis.
Our society has outlawed grass but condones the use of the KILLERS:
TOBACCO and ALCOHOL. Hemp should be declassified and placed in DRUG
stores to relieve stress. Hardening and constriction of the arteries
are bad; but hemp usage actually enlarges the arteries...which is a
healthy condition. We have been so conditioned to think that: Smoking
is harmful. That is NOT the case for passive pot.

Ingesting THC, hemp's active agent, has a positive effect; relieving
asthma and glaucoma. A joint tends to alleviate the nausea caused by
chemotherapy. You are able to eat on hemp. This is a healthy state of
being.

{One personal note: During the pregnancy of my wife, she was having
some difficulty gaining weight. We were in the hospital. A nurse called
us to one side and said: ‘Off the record, if you smoke pot...you'd get
something called the munchies and you’ll gain weight.' I swear that is
a true story}.

The stereotype for a pothead is similar to a drunk, bubble-brain. Yet,
the truth is one’s creative abilities can be enhanced under its
influence. The perception of time slightly slows and one can become
more sensitive. You can more appreciate all arts; be closer to nature
and generally FEEL more under the influence of cannabis. It is, in
fact, the exact opposite state of mind and body as the drunken state.
You can be more aware with pot.

The pot plant is an ALIEN plant. There is physical evidence that
cannabis is not like any other plant on this planet. One could conclude
that it was brought here for the benefit of humanity. Hemp is the ONLY
plant where the males appear one way and the females appear very
different, physically! No one ever speaks of males and females in
regard to the plant kingdom because plants do not show their sexes;
except for cannabis. To determine what sex a certain, normal, Earthly
plant is: You have to look internally, at its DNA. A male blade of
grass (physically) looks exactly like a female blade of grass. The hemp
plant has an intense sexuallity. Growers know to kill the males before
they fertilize the females. Yes, folks...the most potent pot comes from
'horny females.'

The reason this amazing, very sophisticated, ET plant from the future
is illegal has nothing to do with how it physically affects us…..

…POT IS ILLEGAL BECAUSE BILLIONAIRES WANT TO REMAIN BILLIONAIRES!

ps: I think the word ‘DRUGS’ should not be used as an umbrella-word
that covers all chemical agents. Drugs have come to be known as
something BAD. Are you aware there are LEGAL drugstores?! Yep, in every
city. Unbelievable. Each so-called drug should be considered
individually. Cannabis is a medicine and not a drug. We should DARE to
speak the TRUTH no matter what the law is.

stated that if hemp was cultivated using 20th Century technology, it
would be the single largest agricultural crop in the U.S. and the rest
of the world.
Because an article written in 1938 can't be wrong

The following information comes directly from the United States
Department of Agriculture's 1942 14-minute film encouraging and
instructing 'patriotic American farmers' to grow 350,000 acres of hemp
each year for the war effort:
Because Hemp has no other uses than to be smoked

(When) Grecian temples were new, hemp was already old in the service of
mankind. For thousands of years, even then, this plant had been grown
for cordage and cloth in China and elsewhere in the East. For centuries
prior to about 1850, all the ships that sailed the western seas were
rigged with hempen rope and sails. For the sailor, no less than the
hangman, hemp was indispensable...
Because Hemp has no other uses than to be smoked

...Now with Philippine and East Indian sources of hemp in the hands of
the Japanese...American hemp must meet the needs of our Army and Navy
as well as of our industries...
Where the hell did this come from? Are our freaking aircraft carriers made from hemp or something?

...the Navy's rapidly dwindling reserves. When that is gone, American
hemp will go on duty again; hemp for mooring ships; hemp for tow lines;
hemp for tackle and gear; hemp for countless naval uses both on ship
and shore. Just as in the days when Old Ironsides sailed the seas
victorious with her hempen shrouds and hempen sails. Hemp for victory!'
Because Hemp has no other uses than to be smoked

Hemp cultivation and production do not harm the environment. The USDA
Bulletin #404 concluded that Hemphemp produces 4 times as much pulp
with at least 4 to 7 times less pollution. From Popular Mechanics, Feb.
1938:
And how does the strength test fare?

'It has a short growing season...It can be grown in any state...The
long roots penetrate and break the soil to leave it in perfect
condition for the next year's crop. The dense shock of leaves, 8 to 12
feet above the ground, chokes out weeds.
Oh, I'll remember that when the steel mills are churning out as much steel as the hand labor in a field that could be better served by growing food for just as long

...hemp, this new crop can add immeasurably to American agriculture and industry.'
This is 1850?

In the 1930s, innovations in farm machinery would have caused an
industrial revolution when applied to hemp. This single resource could
have created millions of new jobs generating thousands of quality
products. Hemp, if not made illegal, would have brought America out of
the Great Depression.
And if they didn't make murder a crime, I could have won every war in the history of the world before they started without consequences!

Because it's 1850

In 1937, Dupont patented the processes to make plastics from oil and
coal. Dupont's Annual Report urged stockholders to invest in its new
petrochemical division. Synthetics such as plastics, cellophane,
celluloid, methanol, nylon, rayon, Dacron, etc., could now be made from
oil. Natural hemp industrialization would have ruined over 80% of
Dupont's business.
Because cars are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY safer when made from hemp. I'll be sure to make my house from hemp when the economy is in a slump. I hear California is a nice place to build a house out of a plant. All I want is a good view of the forests.

THE CONSPIRACY OH NO WE HAVE RICH PEOPLE ABOUT TO LOSE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IF WE WERE ALL IN THE 1800'S

Mexican slang word: 'marihuana' and pushed it into the consciousness of
America.
And where is the proof of these secret meetings? Oh, I guess they killed everyone who knew about it, thus covering their own tracks with the unlimited power they must have. I guess everyone in the world was paid off to ignore the truth, except for you.

Remember prohibition? Yeah, this is basically that.

Remember prohibition? Yeah, this is basically that.

Examine the following quotes from 'The Burning Question' aka REEFER MADNESS:
* a violent narcotic.
* acts of shocking violence.
* incurable insanity.
* soul-destroying effects.
* under the influence of the drug he killed his entire family with an ax.
* more vicious, more deadly even than these soul-destroying drugs (heroin, cocaine) is the menace of marihuana!
Remember prohibition?

Reefer Madness did not end with the usual 'the end.' The film concluded
with these words plastered on the screen: TELL YOUR CHILDREN.
Remember prohibition?

In the 1930s, people were very naive; even to the point of ignorance.
The masses were like sheep waiting to be led by the few in power. They
did not challenge authority. If the news was in print or on the radio,
they believed it had to be true. They told their children and their
children grew up to be the parents of the baby-boomers.
Remember prohibition?

On April 14, 1937, the Prohibitive Marihuana Tax Law or the bill that
outlawed hemp was directly brought to the House Ways and Means
Committee. This committee is the only one that can introduce a bill to
the House floor without it being debated by other committees. The
Chairman of the Ways and Means, Robert Doughton, was a Dupont
supporter. He insured that the bill would pass Congress.
Remember prohibition?

Few people, at the time, realized that the deadly menace they had been
reading about on Hearst's front pages was in fact passive hemp. The AMA
understood cannabis to be a MEDICINE found in numerous healing products
sold over the last hundred years.

In September of 1937, hemp became illegal. The most useful crop known
became a drug and our planet has been suffering ever since.
Because we made everything safer with all this fantastic 'metal' stuff we make our cars out of?

Congress banned hemp because it was said to be the most
violence-causing drug known. Anslinger, head of the Drug Commission for
31 years, promoted the idea that marihuana made users act extremely
violent. In the 1950s, under the Communist threat of McCarthyism,
Anslinger now said the exact opposite. Marijuana will pacify you so
much that soldiers would not want to fight.
Because anything said under the threat of being fired and blacklisted is definitely trustable.

Today, our planet is in desperate trouble. Earth is suffocating as
large tracts of rain forests disappear. Pollution, poisons and
chemicals are killing people. These great problems could be reversed if
we industrialized hemp. Natural biomass could provide all of the
planet's energy needs that are currently supplied by fossil fuels. We
have consumed 80% of our oil and gas reserves. We need a renewable
resource. Hemp could be the solution to soaring gas prices.
Simpler solution: Kill everyone. We can feed Gaia with our blood, and stop manufacturers by killing everyone who ever had a hand in pollution. Oh wait, that's already out there. I'm pretty sure it's called eco-terrorism.

Goat skin never ages, takes NO chemicals to process, takes only a few years to mature, and lasts nearly forever!

Recycle!

MEDICINES SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEMP. We should go back to the days when
the AMA supported cannabis cures. 'Medical Marijuana' is given out
legally to only a handful of people while the rest of us are forced
into a system that relies on chemicals. Pot is only healthy for the
human body.
I'll treat my AIDS, cancer, ADHD, Autism, and blindness with pot.

Actually, I disagree with this. I postulate that consuming pot would cause everyone to drive to their local store and buy out all of the snacks. This would only lead to more hunger in the world.
"These essential fatty acids are not found
anywhere else in nature!"
Maybe we should avoid eating something that we don't produce in our own body? Or is the human body not natural?

CLOTHES SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEMP. Hemp clothing is extremely strong and
durable over time. You could hand clothing, made from pot, down to your
grandchildren. Today, there are American companies that make hemp
clothing; usually 50% hemp. Hemp fabrics should be everywhere. Instead,
they are almost underground. Superior hemp products are not allowed to
advertise on fascist television. Kentucky, once the top hemp producing
state, made it ILLEGAL TO WEAR hemp clothing! Can you imagine being
thrown into jail for wearing quality jeans?
ALL HAIL FASCIST AMERICA

The brainwashing continues. Now, the commercials say: If you buy a
joint, you contribute to murders and gang wars. The latest anti-pot
commercials say: If you buy a joint...you are promoting TERRORISM! The
new enemy (terrorism) has paved the road to brainwash you any way THEY
see fit.
Lets see. If gangs sell pot, and I buy pot from them, I am contributing to the gang, and eventually, a gang war.
Lets see. If terrorists sell pot, and I buy pot from them, I am contributing to the terrorists, and eventually, a terrorist bombing.

Nobody in the history of the human race has ever died from a Stab wound, a blow to the head, jumping from a bridge, being shot, smoking tobacco, smoking alcohol, smoking pot, etc. The only thing any person in the human race has died from was having their brain stop.

If I'm not mistaken, being shot enlarges arteries.

Ingesting THC, hemp's active agent, has a positive effect; relieving
asthma and glaucoma. A joint tends to alleviate the nausea caused by
chemotherapy. You are able to eat on hemp. This is a healthy state of
being.
THC also has the positive side effect of not feeling that nausea from teh kids in the car while driving to soccer practice. It also alleviates the pain from having that long slice down your neck, from crashing into a light pole.

Good to know that you wife smokes pot while pregnant. I hope she likes that half-a-baby. Also, LOLOLOL A WIFE GAINING WEIGHT DURING PREGNANCY IS CAUSED BY WEED

The pot plant is an ALIEN plant. There is physical evidence that
cannabis is not like any other plant on this planet. One could conclude
that it was brought here for the benefit of humanity. Hemp is the ONLY
plant where the males appear one way and the females appear very
different, physically! No one ever speaks of males and females in
regard to the plant kingdom because plants do not show their sexes;
except for cannabis. To determine what sex a certain, normal, Earthly
plant is: You have to look internally, at its DNA. A male blade of
grass (physically) looks exactly like a female blade of grass. The hemp
plant has an intense sexuallity. Growers know to kill the males before
they fertilize the females. Yes, folks...the most potent pot comes from
'horny females.'
AWESOME, SEXY PLANTS FROM SPACE

The reason this amazing, very sophisticated, ET plant from the future
is illegal has nothing to do with how it physically affects us…..
EVEN MORE AWESOME, SEXY SPACE PLANTS FROM THE FUTURE!

ps: I think the word ‘DRUGS’ should not be used as an umbrella-word
that covers all chemical agents. Drugs have come to be known as
something BAD. Are you aware there are LEGAL drugstores?! WAT

I like the part where anything in the beginning saying Pot is NOT harmful to the human body or mind" is supported by the information below.
Yes. Hemp is useful to make things out of. Yes, I see that famous people used Hemp to create things. Yet, nothing in there is at all related to that initial statement.

I'ma have to call sauce on almost everything in there. (And calling it a GIANT CONSIPARACY BY THE OIL COMPANIES kind of lowers the credibility, as far as I'm concerned.)

Edit: I'ma go through the thing and put my comments in red text.

i can tell you from years of, um, vigorous experimentation, that marijuana does not have a negative effect on domestic abuse or murder like one of you tried to state. anyone who murdered someone on weed was going to do it anyway. i barely want to walk to the kitchen to make food let alone feel the need to kill someone. it doesnt alter your mind state like acid or other hard drugs. it just makes everything funny. you are completely in control of yourself, more so then with alcohol. sure, people do dumb stuff when their high but its usually either because they are lazy, thought it was funny, or go distracted by colors. it doesnt completely take over your body and make you do things outside or your normal personality. i mean, i dont even like smoking and going out to bars because i hate seeing lots of people who arnt high that i have to talk to. i feel like everyone is always looking at me lol. paranoid, an ACTUAL side effect of marijuana. thats the reason i really cut down the last year or so. now i just drink heavily haha.

Marijuana is a drug no matter what people say (yes it is a herb), hmmmm let me think what other drugs are herbs? Oh ye that little drug known as heroin also is a herb, it originates from the opium-valmo flower which also is a plant. Is heroin not a drug either then? Break the bullcrap off! No matter if it´s a flower, a herb or who knows what it´s still classified as a drug if it is used as a drug (smoking, injecting etc).

There is usually three aspects which defines if a substance or whatever is to be considered a drug:

1. Creates an addiction.
2. Affects the human behavior.
3. The "drug" is dealt by criminal organizations.

For a "drug" to be classified as a drug it only needs to fill one of the criterias above. If it however fills 2 or 3 of the above criterias it becomes classified as a heavy drug.

Is ciggarets a drug? Yes, cause it contains nicotine which is addictive, thus it´s a drug. Is alcohol a drug? Yes, cause alcohol is addictive, thus also being a drug. Hmmm what more drugs do we have? Oh ye what about Coffee, Coke and Jolt, yes they are also classified as drugs as they contain coffein, which is fills the first criteria of creating an addiction. All these are drugs, however their effects are so tiny that the human community as decided to accept them.

Now lets look on Marijuana. It creates an addiction, one criteria met. It is prooven to affect the human behavior, two criterias met. Marijuana is big economic power for criminal organizations dealing Marijuana to the streets, thus it also fills the third criteria. So as you see Marijuana fills all three requirement and thus receives the classification as a heavy drug.

So as it is now, if you buy Marijuana (except for the countries where it´s considered legal) you actually give economic support to criminal organizations. Some have made the argument that by legalizing drugs, the criminal networks will lose their market and thus their power, this is in many cases a wise point of view, however as the consiquences of legalizing drugs cannot be predicted the community would never allow it.

Well now some people might just state the usage of Marijuana as a medical drug legalizing it, however the Marijuana provided by the hospitals as painkilling drugs instead of morphine or other related painkillers is infact not the same Marijuana as the one dealt with in the streets, it´s a geneticly altered form, which have been removed of many of its capabilities, meaning medical Marijuana and illegal Marijuana is not even close of being the same thing.

Oh and Nugget not to break your protective position towards Marijuana, why don´t you just make a search about US police arrests and look how many domestic abuse errands the american police investigates each year connected to usage of Marijuana, I promise you that the number is enormous, so don´t lie here on the boards openly protecting usage of drugs, claiming it to cause no harm when so is not the case.

What do you mean VS?

It should be Plus...

Since its dawn, mankind has always used substances. For the simple fact that everything you consume has an effect on your metabolysm, and to some extent your sensorial perception. Wich may be close to 0 when it comes to potatoes, but different when talking about pepper, sugar, coffee, etc.

Saying that cannabis is a drug is a half truth, because implicitely you're not considering other substances, such as coffee or tea wich also cause sensorial distortion. What should be considered is, how much comsuption of a given substance goes beyond the threshold of self-control and self-awareness.

Do you eat meat? Regularly? Then your veins have an unnatural amount of fat stocked in them, wich alters blood pressure, thus leading to an anormal metabolyc system.

Knowing what effects a substance has on your normal functioning is the first step to counter sub-threshold effects, thus avoiding paranoia (wich you can also attain with coffee), or depression (wich you can also experience with other herbs, namely tea/infusions).

Did you know that nomadic hunter-collector tribes used mushrooms to enhance perception when they were about to go hunting? This is proof of rudimentary knowledge about how to make use of altered perception without losing control over it.

Nowadays, with all modern lobbys installed, cannabis having been banned by the weight of the plastics (textile) industry, the tobacco industry and probably the alcohol lobby as well, we, modern society thrive to reduce the amount of overall choices in what comes to altering perception, as for optimal profit for the installed interests, and also because the implicit effects of the so called "Drugs" wich eventually lead to individualistic thinking, contesting, and the list of unruly behaviours goes on...

It's not even a question of "gourmet" choices, drug/substance consumption is automatically put in the bag of mental disorder.

Personally, i'm happy my country is bland about law enforcement on this matter, and i don't approve legalisation, at least not yet. Yes, we now have access to a lot of information and humankind has probably never been as cult as before, but there's also a lot of garbage out there, how many more empty minds would lose control should another altering substance be put out there, legally?

I like the idea of bland justice on this subject. If you're clever enough to understand the system, then you should be clever enough to control your own desires.

And i don't buy the argument " substances are unnecessary", it's too shallow... What is necessary then? Air + water + food?

Even sex is unecessary.. but it's good right? It should be at least... And it does change your metabolysm.. don't you like those synaptic discharges? hmmm.. i do :D

Know the consequences of what you do. Otherwise, have fun. No law should be imposed to your personal diet. It's a "make up" measure to a lack of education.

In my opinion, alchohol in the form of wine is similar to a luxury good (depends on where you live) and drinking beer is similar to wine, psychologically and financially speaking. However, drugs, such as marijuana are addictions that may cause physical and mental harms. Where I live, contraband goods, including drugs, are illegal and the sentence is the death penalty immediately.
Sincerely,

Lord Kazimier

Now that's cheerful.

Even more cheerful is your relation between your alcohol type and its metaphor, and then the marijuana is an addiction. Last time i checked an addiction was located somewhere inside one's mind and came in no way under a physical form, such as marijuana, wich is in fact a plant, as about natural as the ingredients of say... wine and beer, wich last time i checked also caused addiction. But then again even Television causes addiction. And why? Addiction occurs inside one's head.

I think someone already enumerated the long list of alcohol's and its dependency's evil aspects. Television has evil aspects as well. Being glued onto a screen for hours is not the best treatment for your eyes.

Do you see where i'm getting at? Nothing is inconsequential.

to me this very question is from a very skewed point of view.

Here is why, these two things are nothing at all like one another.
they are no more alike than acetone or , tea and crumpets..
that irrespective of what it may or may not do to alter ones perspective. or of its availability at a grocery store, and or its place of consumption.

when one considers truth and facts,.. one immediately grasps that Facts are dead things and Truth is a Living thing. the very instant that one calls Fact, Truth, they make a huge error of logic. and the instant that one claims Truth to be Fact , it isn't.

to this next thought let me add , 'lets not and say we did' .
....
So lets discuss the negative effects of this illegal "drug" called
Marijuana and let's simply compare it to a more legal "drug" called
alcohol.

......i am sorry however this too is subject to some even Greater degree of scrutiny as now one is being asked to now accept that the people who ran this particular test were 1. competent,
2. had no financial "agenda" to Make this particular determination .
3. If By Evil one is referring to Mechanical behaviour then i cannot see how this adjective is being applied.

(to me this seems more a topic that should be listed under funny facts from readers digest or what i read in Mad Magazine's Feature stories...)

"Marijuana smoking has been linked to short and long term memory loss,
that's not good. It's also been proven to contain more chemicals than
cigarettes, because cigarettes are filtered! So when you smoke one
joint, it's supposedly the equivalent of like five cigarettes which is
obviously not great for you admittedly, but now let's compare this
"evil, illegal narcotic" to a drug made legal by our government."

Hey , hold down a moment,... Shoe polish is legal , i am not drinking any of that any time soon...

"That's right, alcohol IS legal. Let's examine it's negative effects
though. First of all, alcohol is a leading cause of heart disease,
liver deterioration, blood thinning... and let's not forget, drinking
ALSO causes memory loss, both long and short term."

perhaps one huge oversight here is , If ,.. This is an argument to Persuade someone to drink alcohol until these things occur it failed miserably .
if it was written as some Factual account of the effects of a flask of wine with your sweet heart on a day at the beach , its failing even more.
may i assure you , the persons or person in question chose individuals with some abusive aberration to their psychological make up in describing this next paragraph.

"
Unfortunately, the other effects go downhill from there! Violence is a
common reaction to alcohol consumption. It has led to "blackouts", or
complete lapses of memory, in which the drinker had committed an act he
or she had no recollection of. Alcohol has led to murder, physical and
sexual abuse... and rape. To add to this already long and hopefully
convincing list of reasons, let me add that it is not uncommon to watch
marriages fall apart due to alcoholism, not to mention the loss of a
loved one due to drunk drivers. All in all, alcohol proves to be the
most dangerous of the two, and it's legal."

..........
this next question i Really hope is a joke. or something completely out of context, because quite honestly nothing of any of the quote would lead my thinking to smoking some pot occasionally.
.. my thought is that one should perhaps do their own thinking for what it is worth... as i reason thusly... ultimately , You will be accountable for your own decisions and choices , and the consequences of them. you can chose to to experience life for your self or you can live your life selflessly for others or throw that life away however , taking others with you on the way out to me seems reserved for misguided, easily duped , reckless or hateful individuals...
what i mean by that is , if someone wants to jump from the moving bus with a pack pack filled with explosives i am fine with that however i am not quite so ambivalent if that individual is intent on staying on the bus to "Martyr his life for Allaha or some nonsense"... No ! no indeed! i would prefer any Voices in your head to strap explosives to your body to also be telling you to go out in the middle of a vacant field or mountain area to do so.. that way when you walk that trek to that place , you will have spent at least some of your time realizing the hardships of the human condition and come to your senses that God gave You.

"So, are we really making the wrong choice by smoking a joint every now
and then? It has come to my attention that the government seldomly even
knows what's going on, never mind having the power to decide what is
right or wrong for us.

... like i say, you must make your own choices in Life, for you will have to live with them. You can chose to make decisions by indecision also, and await the whim of someone or something else to bring that line of problem solving to its logical conclusion. my suggestion is to spend your life helping others and experience Life for yourself...
when you live your life with the idea that you would be happy that anyone would /could do what it is that you have done today and be happy .. with that and if everyone had done that... it would have benefited the Human condition and their lives ... then you are living YOUR LIFE and making decisions that have value to you and those around you.

"What are your thoughts on it?"
..............................
here is a quick outline of my thoughts.
at least i think them to be mine. .. *~//: )
Do your own thinking for yourself. it is your experience, you use some filter on what thoughts you chose or do not chose to allow into your life...

....... Search out the source of the thought .. take your time to think things through ...
Chose to whom you reveal your experiences as for some it is as those who drink milk from another who eats strong food... meaning not everyone can consume certain things, as it is not right for them in their life's experiential development.

Mind using quote boxes or differently colored text so anyone can understand which parts of the block of text is yours?

I will say this: I have smoke marijuana for at least the last 10 years. I have never once been hungover, tempted to be violent or angered. or any of the accused side affects of alcohol use. I think I can best say as probably one of the heaviest pot smokers to leave a post in this thread yet. NEVER have i had any side affects of pot such as blackouts, random spells of violence, nausea, or the in-ability to get up and go to work the next day from smoking pot. I can'y beleive that there are people that would actually come in here and say that marijuana is worse than alcohol consumption. People whom feel that way are just victims of government propaganda and have chosen to comsume the lies that have been spewed before you. They tell you that marijuana is bad and alcohol is OK because god forbid your foolish, out of control, over regulating government be wrong. Marijuana helps headaches, helps to relax, and to me does everything godd except for put you a bit on the lazy side. I can give you the utmost honest opinion as i also consume or have consumed quite a bit of alcohol in my time. I often have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning, i fell the urge to be violent, and have horrible co-ordination. I am currently quite influenced by alcohol at the time that i write this message so please excuse any grammatical errors. To the people that say alcohol is okay and marijuana is to the contrary at laugh at you. I further dis-regard any opinons that state such, and will tell you that i have used both to enough to kno. I also would like to wish these believers in alcohol luck with your victimization from your government.....GOOD DAY!!!!!! :agree:
If I'm a danger to myself, just think what I could do to you!!

Likewise. Personal experience over 3rd parties "legitimate" opinions.

Only those who serious mental disorders or who have never experienced cannabis effects can claim to have violent urges subsequent to its consumption.

About short-term memory fails, yes it may happen, but then again, i've always been prone to distraction, and no one can legitimately claim to have superior mental functionality over my own, based on their non-consumption.

Maybe if they are zen monks, but then again .. they don't drink alcohol either, and they don't burn time with trivial stuff such as .. say, Internet.
