Congratulations. What exactly is a major? We don't really have them here.

The dictionary has this definition: a subject or field of study chosen by a student to represent his or her principal interest and upon which a large share of his or her efforts are concentrated.

And, from Quora:
I'm pretty sure there's no direct equivalent to a major. It's just the field of study in which you are obtaining your degree.

For instance, if you're an aerospace engineering major in the US, you're seeking your aerospace degree. In the UK you'd just say something like "I'm studying aerospace engineering."

Weirdos.

Except majors also allow for minors.

Well I mean I've got one specialisation which is hydrology, and two supporting acts of geology and energy transitions. So that's not really saying much.
