Server maintenance - major outage?

I haven't been able to log in the game (still not) or the forum for past 7 hrs.. I thought it was my router, my devices, my internet, browser and what not..

It would have been fantastic if someone here cared to warn us about this...is it too much to ask?

Thankfully I am not in a fight..though for a moment I thought "It has finally happened .. ika is dead"

If you had actually paid attention to the news section you'd have known that it has in fact been announced here, too.

Regular maintenance: 28.11.2018

I guess checking the news section before ranting is...how did you put it...too much to ask?

I missed it too. Part of the problem was that I came here to check and the board was also down. I also went to Gameforge's main site and tried to access Ikariam that way without success or notification. But having done this sort of thing myself - I'm a former IT professional - I must say that it's been done badly. There should have been an in-game notification / reminder half an hour or so before the plugs were pulled and an 'Under Maintenance' placeholder web page put in place.

BTW Alpha is still down but Beta is up.

There clearly was advance notice of the outage. An in-game notice would have better reached the target audience.

You are right Badidol, and I did see that, but it said "regular maintenance" which happens from time to time and lasts up to 1hr. So I did not get into details of reading the whole post thoroughly especially when it was about 1 week prior. This was not "regular" to me...I doubt they move the actual racks every month...hence my confusion.

While you do have a point with the subject "Regular [....]", one should always read carefully before ranting
